An iconic text in a new light
Breath, word, cry. Floating sounds, hard-hitting grooves, cascades of noise. In setting poetry to music, vocalist Anna Stern and guitarist Michael Kolberg constantly reinvent themselves. The result is breathtaking, spectacular, transcendent…

Since 2010, the duo kolberg+stern has combined contemporary music with poetry and live projections. Full-length productions include: Songs of Life and Death (premiered 2012), Invisible Dark Matter (premiered 2015), and alfabet (premiered 2026). Their latest production, Almost Songs, takes a different approach, exploring sonic worlds that bridge acoustic and electronic music through collaborative, free improvisation.
Anna Stern, who studied Fine Arts at the Kunstakademie Münster, the UdK Berlin, and the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, explores the tension between the performative-sonic qualities of language and its capacity to convey meaning; since 1996, in addition to her solo performances, she has engaged in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects with musicians, actors, and visual artists.; www.annastern.de
Michael Kolberg—improvising musician, composer, and performer—bridges the realms of contemporary composed music and contemporary improvised music. He expands the sonic spectrum of the guitar through the use of preparations and electronics. He has contributed to numerous productions within Münster’s independent arts scene, spanning the fields of music, performance, dance, and theater. He has collaborated with a wide range of musicians, including Arnie Arnold, Harald Kimmig, Joachim Zöpf, and Erhard Hirt.; luna3.de
